Chemogenetics is a technology that is used to selectively manipulate cellular signaling. Chemogenetics uses cell membrane receptors that have been genetically engineered to respond exclusively to exogenous chemicals. The result of this engineering is a set of receptors that drive endogenous g-protein signaling following activation by exogenous molecules that are otherwise inert. DREADDs (Designed Receptors Exclusively Activated by Designer Drugs) are the most commonly used chemogenetic receptors and have been used widely across fields of study with exceptionally high adoption in neuroscience.
PackGene provides pre-made “off the shelf” AAV systems to drive the expression of select DREADDs for chemogenetics. These AAVs can be used directly, conveniently, and efficiently for in vivo experiments and come standard with a complete quality inspection report.
